REMOTE TREATMENTS
Remote treatments are clearly not everybody's choice, but a few thoughts might be helpful to lead to an understanding why some clients choose in favour of a remote treatment, especially if an in-person treatment is an option as well:
- Physical distance (across continents, time zones or simply across town)
- client does not need to drive home afterwards, can just lie and relax
- heightened focus on the changing of energy, for both, client and practitioner
- no physical touch (this can be considered a pro or a con, depending on the individual)
How does a remote treatment even work?
1) We agree on a day and time, like with any scheduled treatment, and the client chooses a comfortable, calm location (sofa, recliner or bed. If in a wheelchair I recommend reclining it, so that the head will be supported in case the client dozes off).
2) We connect via spoken or written word at the agreed time and the client shares anything relevant for the treatment; this is pretty much the same as during an in-person treatment.
3) Depending on the client's preference, we either keep our phones on speaker, but lay them aside, or we hang up for the duration of the treatment.
4) The client rests comfortably while focusing on their exhale (down the front) and receiving the inhale (up the back) with ease (no 'taking' of breath is needed!) while the practitioner visualizes the particular client lying there, listens to pulses and subsequently chooses holds and flows at the massage table in the practice, much like during an in-person treatment. Please note: pulses and other energy movements can be felt remotely. Both, the practitioner and the client will notice changes and energy releases during the treatment, with the exception when the client fell asleep; this is a very beneficial occurance, though, as sleep induces the 'rest and repair' mode for the body, promoting healing. The changes may be noticed by the client afterwards, either directly after waking up or within a day or two afterwards or sometimes not at all (individual sensations and awarenesses differ greatly).
5) When the session is complete I usually send a text message letting the client know the treatment is finished; I jot down my treatment notes and I connect with the client - either immediately afterwards or half a day later, depending on our agreement - with feedback from my side and suggestions for self care at home, either in writing or with a short phone call.
Feedback from the client is very much appreciated, - again, whenever the timing is right for them.
Are you ready to give a remote treatment a try? I require an intake appointment in person, whenever possible, but will consider a WhatsApp, Facetime or Zoom intake appointment as adequate, on a case to case basis.
